affliction reigns in your heart.

Sirens that cut through the night,
you'd better stay out of sight,
because I won't be there to protect you
when they try to take you apart.
Unable to fight for your safety,
I'm afraid I'll be too far.
Seems there is no one to trust,
infidelity is a must.
In this unforgiving land
who will be hooked by your claws?

Trying not to break down,
do you really think you won't fall?
Education based on deception,
frustration as the result.
Places you used to know are not there,
the cities seem to be dead.
You're living like in a foreign land
with nothing waiting ahead.
The ones you befriended are now estranged
roommates in hospital beds.
Futile chatter, just killing time
while waiting to pass away.
These seem to be times for depression...
Incarceration of true emotions,
self indulgence precedes.
Pick a target, create an idyll,
annihilate when it’s fruitless.
We are happily disconnected,
courtesy of World Wide Web.
Little talents and bigger egoes
in a race for notoriousness.
Art galleries run over pieces
all painted with the same brush.
Radio stations for all occasions
broadcasting the same track.
These seem to be times for depression...

I didn’t take my pills today,
I have no fears, I'll be okay.
Pretty tired of numbness,
hey, I prefer to stay awake.
Life's not worth to live it lame,
I put the autopilot away.
Not sure if I know how to fly
but I'm not afraid to crash.
Consequence of so much pain
that in the end made me brash.
I know this path will lead to bane
but I will take it anyway.
If happiness I can't find
I will be the only one to blame.
Nothing matters, in the end
there is always the railway line.

Hold and bite again,
regret but don’t forget
to clean and oil your chains,
keep them always in good shape.
Take the bait, then complain,
let's call it by its name:
you are deceiving yourself.
Don't worry, I do the same,
I guess it's just part of the game
to hold and bite again and again.
So here comes this friend,
turns into snake, bites your hand.
Go home promising yourself
this mess you will not consent.
But by the following week
you’ll be removing the ban,
and when the prospects are bleak
resign and say “I don’t care”.
A needle in our veins
feeds with complacency
this bulk of emptiness,
seeding despair in change.
How many times we said
“next time it will be the end”?
Bury your head in the sand,
just hold and bite again.

She plays with dolls in a world of her own,
never steps outside.
Afraid of storms, between four walls,
no place like home.
To the gala party she was brought,
everyone's around but she stays in her cot.
Oh, how I wish to be like you,
and stop in rather than go to school.
Ignoring the guests she smokes her opium.
Outside, afterwards, she sleeps on the grass.
Oh, how I miss my sweet childhood
when I see how permanent it’s in you.
On her way back home through the alleys at dawn,
followed by stray cats,
she asked the snails how to summon the rain
so no one knocks on her door.
Uninvited visitors, stay away.
Leave her alone enjoying endless holidays.
Oh, the things you must have found in your dreams,
that made you ignore this world and its schemes.
She plays with dolls in a world of her own,
never steps outside.
